Everything made at Odyn Ddu is hand-built. Smaller objects are modelled or carved by hand, larger ones are started on slump or hump moulds, on cast forms, or coiled.

 

Pieces are decorated using slips made from various clays including some extracted from local cliffs and farmland, and custom and commercially available glazes. Decorative techniques include sgraffito and Mishima, frequently applied in layers.

 

Increasingly, pieces are fired multiple times. Not all are fully glazed, allowing the natural character of the clay to shine through.
